Washington, DC, July 31, 2018 —The Gallery at the Wharf is pleased to present an exhibition featuring artist Lina Alattar. The “Serenity and Chaos” show will run from July 27-August 27, 2018 with a reception Saturday, August 25 from 6-8 pm. The exhibition focuses on her multicolored-textured paintings.

Lina Alattar has a passionate obsession with color, shape and space. She is especially attracted to emotive paradox –serene and chaotic, loose and intense. Through her painting experience, lightness is revealed bringing a transient experience into view. “It nudges me to pay attention to chance, and the willingness to be surprised.” Although abstract in nature, there is an underlying visual order that comes through, hovering between risk and control. Each painting is composed of fluid color combinations and texture where the unexpected and the intentional coexist in a delicate balance.

The use of color is soothing and energizing. For this show, the exhibition will feature paintings of multicolored combinations, ink with raised texture. The artist is able to create vibrant, yet layered translucent colors punctuated with vibrant color spots of paint and ink. While the artist’s work is unique, she chooses to add a glossy finish for increased visual impact.

Each monthly exhibition has a theme that exemplifies the featured artists’ style. “Serenity and Chaos” runs through August 29, 2018. The artist will be present at the reception Saturday, August 25 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
